SAFFORD — Following its meeting Wednesday, the Safford Downtown Association announced the postponement to 2021 of two holiday events — Merry Main Street and the Holiday Light Parade.
“This is tough news for all of us,” Downtown Association President Danny Smith said in a release. “In addition to all the hometown goodness that comes with the light parade, the event draws thousands of shoppers to our Downtown businesses during the busy shopping season. It is my hope that you continue to eat out and find unique gifts Downtown.”
Smith said the lack of registrants for the parade was the number one reason for the parade’s postponement.
While the games and contests of Merry Main Street will have to wait until next year, the most popular part of the event is still scheduled to take place.
The lighting of the tree in front of Safford City Hall — as well as all the lights down Main Street — will take place Friday, Nov. 27, at 5:30 p.m.
