Trevor Lawrence Sumner

Trevor Lawrence Sumner, beloved son, brother, grandson, friend, and gentleman cowboy, went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the age of 21. Trevor is the son of Tim and Amber Sumner, of Duncan. He is survived by his parents and his siblings, Elissa (Sylas) Turner, Rachel, and Isaiah; grandparents Steve & Loralie Martin, Dean & Bonni Sumner, and Dianne Jones; and a large extended family. Trevor had accepted Jesus as his Savior and is now another cowboy in heaven.

Trevor spent most of his childhood enjoying country life in Duncan. From an early age, he loved all things outdoors: hunting, fishing, trucks, welding, and horses. Trevor was talented at leatherwork, creating custom tack, belts, wallets, sheaths, and more. His passion was working with horses, and he loved ranch work. His dream was to be a cowboy, and he became one of the best. He loved working various ranches and seeing different country but did his longest stint at the O RO Ranch in Prescott. He was drawn there to work a wagon the old-fashioned way, on horseback, eating from the chuck wagon, and sleeping under the stars. It was the life he loved, and he was blessed to live it. Trevor was easy-going, funny, and loved with a big heart. He made friends everywhere he went; and no one could miss his well-worn hat. His last ride was on the Y6 Ranch in Mule Creek, NM on April 20th, where he was dragged by a horse while bringing in the cows with his good friends by his side.

A Celebration of Trevor’s Life will be conducted Saturday morning, April 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at the Greenlee County Fairgrounds Arena in Duncan by Trevor’s Grandfather, Pastor Steve Martin, of the First Southern Baptist Church of Duncan and Pastor Brad Boyd of the First Baptist Church of Duncan.

The family asks that those who plan to be in attendance come in ‘cowboy casual’ attire. Anyone who wants to bring their horse and ride as a tribute to Trevor during the closing song, the family would be honored to have you do so.
