THATCHER — The Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition is conducting its annual Dump the Drugs event Saturday in the parking lot of Home Depot.

“So if you have any unwanted prescriptions or unused prescriptions that you want to get rid of, we have the Thatcher Police Department that’s going to dispose of those using an incinerator,” said Melissa Mitchell. “We also accept vapes. If you want to get rid of your vape, if you’re trying to quit vaping, we will also take those as well.”

Unwanted pet medications may also be given to officers for proper disposal.

There will also be other area nonprofit organizations on-hand to share information about services available to families in the Gila Valley.

Free yoga will start the day at 10 a.m., followed by the Dump the Drugs event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Those unable to attend Saturday’s event can drop off their expired prescription medications for proper disposal any time in the boxes located at Thatcher and Pima Police stations, Graham County Sheriff’s Office and Canyonlands Health Care.
