EAGAR, Ariz. — Pima didn’t just get its first win of the season Friday night — the Roughriders dominated.

After their scheduled game with Tombstone was cancelled mid-week, Pima and Tuba City agreed to meet in Eagar. The Roughriders took full advantage, shutting out Tuba City 42-0 to even their record at 1-1.

Sophomore quarterback Ryett Mcbiles threw for 135 yards and two touchdowns on 12-of-16 passing, though he was intercepted twice. On the ground, Rooster Alder ran for 50 yards and a touchdown, and Joe Palmer added 43 yards and another score as Pima totaled 198 rushing yards.

Senior Keegan Corona stole the spotlight on defense, returning two interceptions for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Alder also had a pick, while Palmer collected six tackles, four tackles for loss, and a sack. The Roughriders finished with three interceptions, two sacks and 12 tackles for loss in the shutout.

“Keegan was locked in Friday night,” Pima head coach Josh Wilkins said. “He’s a key component to our defense and a great leader in our secondary.”

Pima will now turn its attention to a marquee home opener. The Roughriders are set to play their first game in their new stadium Friday night when they host Round Valley (2-0) at 7 p.m.
