GREENLEE COUNTY – A man traveling southbound on U.S. 191 North suffered a seizure Thursday morning and crashed his car into an embankment.

According to a news release from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Cory Deverl Craig, 40, of Safford, was southbound in a blue, Nissan Altima at about 6:55 a.m. just south of the Gila River Bridge south of 3-Way when the seizure hit. Craig’s passenger, Dan Allen Stock, 47, of San Tan Valley, informed the officer of how the crash occurred. Stock was not listed as being injured.

The episode caused Craig to veer across the northbound lanes and into a ditch. He was evaluated at the scene by paramedics from Greenlee County, who then transported him to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for a minor injury to his head and released.

The highway was not closed during the incident, and the Altima was removed from the scene by Waters Towing of Duncan and brought to its tow yard.
