Report: Arizona among least prepared states for Zombie Apocalypse

Interest in disaster preparedness and end-of-the-world survival tactics has been growing exponentially – likely fueled by hit shows like The Last of Us and The Walking Dead.

In fact, 1 in 10 Americans think a zombie apocalypse is inevitable and over half believe it will happen in the next 30 years. The question is…who is most and least prepared. To answer this highly pertinent question, the folks at Insuranks.com delved into the subject.

In a new report published on their website found that Arizona is one of the least prepared states for a zombie apocalypse – ranking #34 in the U.S. for preparedness.

Other highlights of the report include:

  • Nearly 1 in 4 don’t think it’s unusual to prepare for a zombie apocalypse
  • Wyoming ranks #1 most prepared state
  • More than 1 in 10 already have food stockpiled for such an emergency (and probably toilet paper)
  • Top weapons of choice during a zombie apocalypse: Shotguns, baseball bats and machetes
  • Over half (53%) of Americans think they know how to kill a zombie – killing an average of 39 per day.

Are Americans actually paranoid about a zombie apocalypse? The answer is yes! Between March 2019 and March 2021, there was a 2082% increase in Google searches for “preparing for zombie apocalypse,” and a 41594% increase in searches for “CDC zombie apocalypse.” By the way, if you don’t know how to kill a zombie you can quickly learn how by watching one of the zombie shows on TV.
