SAFFORD — The weekend starts with a chance to help a nonprofit organization that focuses on care for animals.
Desert Cat Rescue and Sanctuary of Arizona will conduct its fund-raiser auction Friday, May 10, starting at 5:30 p.m. in the large meeting room of the Graham County General Services Building.
“We have some good stuff to auction off,” said Doris Kempton, Desert Cat Rescue board secretary. “We have some Diamondbacks baseball tickets, we have some stuff from the U of A, we have a brand-new kids bicycle, different things. There will be good things to auction off.”
Other items include gift baskets from Marcia’s Garden and Ginaveve’s Marketplace, tickets to The Way and Stargazer 5 cinemas, gift certificates to Pollock’s Western Wear and more.
Auctioneer will be Graham County Supervisor Paul David, who chairs the Desert Cat Rescue board.
Funds raised will go toward Desert Cat Rescue’s mission to help trap, neuter and release wild cats; as well as foster and eventually adopt out surrendered cats and kittens. The organization also makes available vouchers for discounts on spay and neuter services for both cats and dogs.
For those who can’t attend the auction, Desert Cat Rescue accepts cash donations through PayPal and Venmo @desert-cat-rescue. To make a donation of pet food or kitty litter, e-mail desertcatrescue@gmail.com.
