MORENCI — The circus is coming to Graham and Greenlee counties.
After a two-year absence due to the pandemic, the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will take place in Morenci and Safford later this month.
The first stop is in Morenci, Thursday, April 21, at the county’s softball fields’ parking lot. At 9:30 a.m., the public is invited to watch the raising of the big top and take a back-stage tour of the circus and its animals.
At 4 p.m. the midway opens, followed by the first show at 5 p.m. and a second show at 7:30 p.m.
Advance tickets are $12, children 2-12 and seniors 65 and older are $7, and can be purchased in multiple locations throughout Greenlee County, including:
● Morenci — R&R Pizza and Ace Hardware
● Clifton — Clifton Bakery, El Corralito, Clifton Town Hall and Greenlee County Offices
● Duncan — Town & Country Supply, Stage Stop Mini Market and Duncan Town Hall
Day of show tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for children and seniors.
The whole process starts again Friday, April 22, when the circus heads south to the Graham County Fairgrounds.
In Graham County, the Safford Lions Club is selling tickets, with proceeds used to pay for gas cards for area residents who have to travel to Phoenix or Tucson for cancer treatments. Tickets can be purchased from Safford Lions Club members, at Farmers Insurance on Main Street in Safford, or by calling 928-651-6346.
