BOWIE — Bowie residents are being told to boil their water before use.

A pump failure occurred Nov. 16, and while the pump was repaired and lines flushed the next day, the water quality has not yet been confirmed as safe to drink.

Cochise County Health Department is advising all residents to bring the water to a full boil for one minute per 1,000 feet in elevation to ensure all bacteria has been killed.

Only properly boiled water, or bottled water, should be used for drinking, food preparation, brushing teeth, making ice and washing dishes.

Water samples have seen sent to a lab for testing and Cochise County Health Department said it will inform residents when the tests come back as safe to drink.
