SAFFORD — Safford Police are giving the public another chance to see what law enforcement is all about.
Teaming with Thatcher Police and the Graham County Sheriff’s Office, Safford’s Citizens Police Academy will offer residents from throughout the Gila Valley a chance to learn what law enforcement officers do, including:
- Narcotics and drug interdiction
- Traffic and DUI investigations
- Criminal investigations
Residents will also learn about body-worn cameras, firearms safety, when to use a TASER and when deadly force is necessary, and more.
Applicants must 18 or older, with no felony convictions and able to pass a background check. Applicants will not be considered if they have any pending action involving a law enforcement agency, have a known criminal history, have active warrants, or are subject to a protective order.
The Citizens Police Academy will begin Wednesday, Sept. 18, and run every Wednesday, from 6-8:30 p.m., until Nov. 6.
