The Survey will Help ADHS Develop Public Health Programs to Improve Maternal and Child Health
PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) has launched the 2020-2025 Maternal and Child Health Title V Needs Assessment Survey that will help the department determine areas of priority needs for the next five years. All Arizona residents are invited to take the survey. The survey is available in English and Spanish and should take about 20 minutes to complete.
“Determining the priorities for how our department will develop and implement public health interventions to improve maternal and child health in Arizona is a collaborative process that includes our partners and families,” said Dr. Cara Christ, ADHS director. “I encourage people to take the survey so that the strategies we implement over the next five years are targeted to the needs of our state.”
The needs assessment process began on January 2019 with the establishment of the Title V Maternal and Child Health Needs Assessment Steering Committee, which will guide the overall assessment process. Members of the steering committee represent state agencies, non-profit organizations, advocacy groups, and families. ADHS will develop a report based on the results of the survey by July 2020. Once the report is published, an assessment team from ADHS will hold town hall meetings across the state to share the findings in the report and capture additional feedback from our communities.
“We want the report to be a living document that can be used as a resource for our agency and partners,” Dr. Christ said. “We are optimistic that this will help align statewide efforts to improve the lives of our families through collective impact. We greatly appreciate your input in helping us promote and improve the health and well-being of Arizona’s families.”
The Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant is funded by the federal Human Resources and Service Administration and is a key source of support for promoting and improving the health and well-being of mothers, children, and adolescents with special needs), and their families.
