The first phase of the City of Safford Police Station project is beginning with the demolition of the old sheriff’s office and jail. Demolition has begun and is expected to last through Friday, November 8, 2019.
The demolition project will impact traffic and parking in the area:
- Parking will be restricted in the immediate area near demolition activity and signage with specific restrictions will be in place in all construction areas.
- Intermittent street closures may be required
- Local access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times
The City of Safford acquired the building and property to build a new police station. When completed, both the current and new police office buildings will be used.
