SAFFORD — The GFWC Women’s Club of Safford will be the site of a blood drive this week.
In addition to helping increase the blood supply for normal needs, such as surgeries and trauma emergencies, all donors will receive a COVID-19 antibody test.
“When you contract COVID, your body produces antibodies to fight it off,” said Samantha Bivins with the American Red Cross. “If you are among those who have survived and come out the other side and recovered fully, your blood is just chock-full of these really important antibodies that can then be, in turn, used to help current COVID-19 sufferers that are in hospital right now.”
The local blood drive will take place Wednesday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the GFWC Women’s Club of Safford, 215 W. Main Street, in Safford. Donations are by appointment only. Go to RedCrossBlood.org to pre-register with the code GFWC, or use the blood drive donor app.
