SAFFORD- With a unanimous vote, the Pride of Safford committee awarded the St. Rose of Lima Youth group the Pride of Safford Award on Thursday.
From its creation in 1996, the Pride of Safford Award has been considered the most prestigious award that Safford can present. This month the award was bestowed to the Youth Group at St. Rose of Lima Church.
The youth group was established in 2001, and has participated in many events, and created thousands of popcorn balls to give to school classrooms. The group makes over 2500 popcorn balls for the classrooms that they visit. Having been in existence for nearly as long as the Festival of Trees, the youth group works at the annual Merry Main Street, and have partaken in cleanups within the community.
