SAN CARLOS — The results of the San Carlos Apache Tribal Council Primary races have been published, and the leader in the race for Tribal Chairman is the incumbent.

Terry Rambler received the most votes for chairman, with 1,062. That was almost 300 better than Ina Sue Salter, who received 775 and finished in second. Third most went to John Antonio Jr., with 769, and fourth was Yvette Dawn Cassadore with 443.

The other primary was for Gilson Wash Council Members. First was Josiah Jonah May with 387, followed by Simon H. Hooke with 231, Michael Ray Phillips with 167 and Joseph Thompson with 97.

Under tribal rules, when more than four file for a position that race goes to a primary. All races with four or fewer candidates are decided in the Nov. 3 General Election.
