The Folk Legacy Trio are:
- George Grove who spent 41 years as a member of the legendary Kingston Trio, known worldwide for his exceptional banjo playing and musicianship.
- Rick Dougherty brought his clear tenor voice to The Limeliters for 14 years (replacing Glenn Yarbrough) and later spent 12 years with The Kingston Trio.
- Jerry Sigginswho served for 27 years as the lead singer of the famous 1950s rock-and-roll/doo-wop group The Diamonds (known for hits like “Little Darlin'” and “The Stroll”). He also spent time as a member of Disneyland’s Dapper Dan.
The Folk Legacy Trio has been hailed as “the living library” of music of the great folk era, delivering songs from the ’50s-’70s.The group is widely recognized for their signature vocal harmonies and a popular PBS television special. With their gorgeous harmonies they perform songs from The Kingston Trio, Peter Paul & Mary, The New Christy Minstrels, The Brothers Four, Judy Collins, Gordon Lightfoot, Simon & Garfunkel, John Denver, and many others. Blending history and humor, they have received accolades from venues across the country of “best show ever.”
“In these times of limited folk music venues, it is difficult to find seasoned performers who rise to the professional level that marked the great performances we all enjoyed during the heyday of the sixties folk music era. George Grove, Rick Dougherty, and Jerry Siggins, veteran folk singers with thousands of stage-hours among them, bring us the folk music classics we remember, and effortlessly transport us to a bygone era.”
— Art Podell – Greenwich Village expat (Art and Paul), Original member of The New Christy Minstrels, songwriter, radio host and columnist
“There are few musicians today that have been charged with saving a genre of music. There are fewer yet that have the ability to do so. George, Rick and Jerry are accomplished in every facet of vocal performance and entertainment. With the recent resurgence of ‘new folk’ it is only fitting that the Folk Legacy Trio be formed as the foundation to a new generation of folk lovers.”
— Bob Poynton – The Lettermen
