Return Season Alert: 72% of Americans Planning January Gift Returns Despite Obstacles

As millions of Americans wake up to gifts that don’t quite fit, both literally and figuratively, new research reveals a costly pattern in consumer behavior that’s particularly relevant during the post-holiday rush.

new study from CardRates.com 3 in 4 consumers are leaving money on the table due to complicated return policies, with each person losing an average of $78 on unreturned items.

With 45% of Americans planning to return 1-3 holiday gifts this season, these insights are especially timely for post-holiday coverage.
