SAN CARLOS — A new wildfire is burning on the San Carlos Apache Reservation.
The Butte fire has grown to 670 acres and is at 0-percent containment.
The fire is located southwest of Chiricahua Butte and is burning grassland and juniper. Fire crews have been working on securing the edges of the fire.
It was discovered Aug. 3 and was caused by a lightning strike.
The Bear fire, just west of the Butte fire, was also caused by lightning on Aug. 3. It grew to slightly more than 13 acres before full containment was achieved Tuesday.
