THATCHER — The radio auction to benefit the Friends of the Safford Library is coming back.

“We tried this out last year, with the radio station, and it was such a roaring success it’s become an annual event now,” said Paulette LeBlanc with the Friends of the Library,

Fifty items will be auctioned live, starting at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, on radio stations  KATO 1230 AM and Kat Kountry 94.5 FM, with bids taken over the phone and via text.

Everyone will find something on which to bid, from valuable Hal Empie prints, local artists’ paintings and stained glass; to guided tours, and tickets to Cardinals and ASU football games; to an airplane ride with a fighter pilot and a hot air balloon ride; and much more.

More than $8,000 was raised last year to help the Friends of the Library support the Safford City-Graham County Library in its mission to provide books, other media and programs to all residents of the Gila Valley.

“We’re looking forward to matching that again this year, and having everybody participate in it with us,” LeBlanc said.

The auction can also be streamed live at GilaValleyCentral.net.
