SAFFORD – Ever wanted to help design a neighborhood park?

The city of Safford is encouraging those interested to join officials for a public meeting Aug. 30 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss revitalization plans for Glenn Meadows Park. The meeting will take place at the community room of the Safford Annex at 808 S. 8th Ave.

The park is in dire need of renovation and currently has no grass.

However, a recent grant of $83,800 from the Freeport McMoRan Community Investment Fund is slated to develop a new sports practice field at the park, along with the installation of irrigated trees and bushes. The grant is also set to be utilized for the installation of new sidewalks and a shade structure in the revitalized play area, according to a release from Freeport. The release also states that Freeport considers the park renewal to be “an improvement in community infrastructure that bolsters local community and economic development efforts.”
