Man stabbed, said he doesn’t recall who did it

GRAHAM COUNTY — Two men admitted to being together when one of the men was stabbed, but neither would say who committed the assault.

Graham County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home on Shady Dell Road following reports of a man stabbed in the back. While deputies attempted to care for the wound until the arrival of EMS personnel, they talked with the victim, who said he didn’t know who did the stabbing.

Area residents suggested a neighbor might be involved, and deputies found the man lying down in his vehicle. The man, whom deputies said had a strong odor of alcohol, said he was with the victim and eventually admitted to scuffling because the victim would not share alcohol. However, the man denied stabbing the victim.

In the Intensive Care Unit at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center, the victim said he was with the man deputies were questioning, but he didn’t remember what happened.

Deputies were unable to find a weapon, and contacted Graham County Probation about the suspect’s alcohol consumption. The Probation officer said he would petition to have the suspect’s probation revoked.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
