MORENCI — Overnight road closures are scheduled to take place on U.S. Highway 191, north of the Morenci, starting Tuesday, February 16, and run through March 31.
The closures will take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Saturday.
The closure is part of scheduled repairs to the rock tunnel near milepost 170, but will close the road from milepost 169 to milepost 171.
During nightly closures, no vehicles will be allowed to pass. Motorists traveling between Alpine and Morenci will need to delay travel or use an alternate route. Daytime motorists are advised to drive with caution and follow road construction signs during operating travel times.
Drivers who must travel between Alpine and Morenci during the construction hours will need to take Highway 191 south from Morenci to Three Way, follow State Route 78 east into New Mexico to U.S. Highway 180, and follow Highway 180 north to Alpine.
