PIMA — The Gila Watershed Partnership announced it will conduct two river cleanups in September.

In addition to its ongoing work to clean the banks of the San Francisco River in Greenlee County, it will conduct a cleanup of the banks of the Gila River in Graham.

“That particular site, which is right there at the Pima Bridge, it’s just a dumping site,” said GWP Executive Director Dr. Sarah Sayles. “People (tossing) dead animals over the bridge and trash.”

The cleanup will take place Saturday, Sept. 9. Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. for areas of assignment.
