GCSO rescues Texas man stuck in the desert

SAFFORD — High centering a vehicle was enough to get the tires stuck in the dirt. Trying to get out was enough to cause the vehicle to run out of gas and strand a Texas man in the desert for about 24 hours.

The victim was able to contact Graham County dispatch and advise he was without water and dehydrated.

Graham County Sheriff’s deputies found the victim at about 4:24 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, near North Day Mine Ranch Road. The victim was given water, crackers and sports drinks to combat dehydration, but was otherwise alright.

The deputies were able to pull the victim’s vehicle out of the dirt and the victim then followed the deputies back into town.
