Edwiges Fontes Villescas, “Mary”, of Safford passed away on December 11, 2020, in Tucson, Arizona. She was born on October 17, 1928, in San Francisco del Oro, Mexico to Odorico Fontes & Amalia Arellano Fontes with siblings Alejandra, Conselo, and Maria Luisa.
Mary met the love of her life, Ricardo B. Villescas in El Paso, Texas and were married in 1954. She attended and graduated from Clifton high School in 1969. Together the couple raised their children; Juan, Rick, Blanca, Ricardo, Sonia, and Jacob.
She began working as a cook manager in the Clifton School cafeteria where she enjoyed being around all of the children. Mary also enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, and serving others.
Mary is survived by her children Juan Villescas, Rick Loera, Ricardo Villescas, Sonia DeForest, and Jacob Villescas, 13 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren, and her 4 dogs.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ricardo B. Villescas, and her daughter Blanca S. Villescas.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at the Apostolic Church in Safford beginning with a viewing at 9:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery following services.
