Eastern Arizona College to present Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit

By Sarah Griffin

THATCHER — Eastern Arizona College’s Department of Theatre Arts is proud to produce “Blithe Spirit: An Improbable Farce”, written by Nöel Coward and directed by Elizabeth Henley.

It’s the story of a wealthy writer who invites a local medium to his home as research for his next novel. Eager to witness a scam, the joke is on him when the ghost of his first wife is summoned back from the other side.

From beginning to end, this classic British comedy is full of exciting theatrical effects and ghostly humor. Even more exciting for the department, its cast predominantly features the talents of its freshmen group of actors. They are looking forward to sharing their hard work and passion with a receiving audience.

“I have really enjoyed working on my first production here at Eastern Arizona College,” said Nikolas Mase, who plays the novelist, Charles Condomine. The entire team has been working extremely hard and enthusiastically to bring the show to life.”

“I love how high-spirited this cast is,” adds Angelique Woods, who plays the ghostly Elvira.

This production features set designs by Scott Dahl, costume designs by Timilee McNair, lighting designs by Don Eller, sound design by Randall Shumway, and stage management by Heidi Bolen with assistance from Madelynn St. Peter. The talented cast also includes Terrylee Brewer, Megan Codling, Stuart Kieren, Nikolas Mase, Emily Nagy, Amanda Randall, and Angelique Woods.

Blithe Spirit will be performed in the theater in South Campus Classroom #3, Oct. 18-21, at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance on Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. General admission is $5 or free to full-time students with student I.D. Tickets can be purchased at the door before each performance or by calling Eastern Arizona College’s Ticket Office at (928) 428-8228. Advanced reservations are recommended, as seating for this production is very limited.

EAC is delighted to bring this “improbable farce” to its audiences here in the Gila Valley.
