THATCHER – Eastern Arizona College’s Starlight Strings Concert Series is bringing an exciting, nontraditional show to the Lee Little Theatre with this year’s offering, “Classical Rock.” The program is full of rock and roll songs from the last 60 years.

Classical Rock will include versions of Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir, Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Haze, Bob Seger’s Old Time Rock n’ Roll, Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, It Don’t Mean a Thing from the Sophisticated Ladies, Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water, I Dreamed a Dream from Les Misérables, a Lady Gaga medley and more.

“Through a series of careful arrangements and the use of our awesome NSD instruments, we think this performance will be one of our best yet,” EAC orchestra director Franklin Alvarez said. “The music is a little outside my comfort zone, but the students truly embraced and loved learning it and are anxiously awaiting the chance to perform. We have all thoroughly enjoyed preparing this concert for the community.”

(NSD is a type of electrical stringed instrument.)

The concert is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 7:30 p.m., in the Activities Center – Lee Little Theatre. Admission is free.
