THATCHER, Ariz. — Eastern Arizona College (EAC) received a $1,500 donation from the Gila Valley Cowboy Poets to purchase an interactive display that will be housed near the Graham County Historical Society Museum Artifacts display in the Discovery Park Interpretive Galleries. The display will recognize the contributions made by these poets to our community.

For several years the Eastern Arizona College Discovery Park Campus’ Circle “D” Ranch House was the gathering site for the annual Gila Valley Cowboy Poetry and Music gathering, where community members of all ages assembled to enjoy songs, poetry, and activities that celebrated the American Cowboy heritage and traditions. The Gila Valley Cowboy Poets have been an important part of our local schools, passing on ranching and “cowboy” customs that have long been a part of this region of Arizona.

“We genuinely appreciate all of the wonderful work that the Gila Valley Cowboy Poets have done in sharing and preserving the cowboy legacy that has made the Gila Valley a unique blend of culture, progress, and tradition,” said Paul Anger, director of EAC’s Discovery Park Campus. “It has been an honor to host the annual poetry and music festivals at our campus, and as the Cowboy Poets ride into the beautiful Gila Valley sunset, they can rest easy knowing that the legacy will live on through the lives that they have touched.”
