SAFFORD — The City of Safford is extending the deadline to help a child’s wish come true this holiday.

The deadline to pick up a tag and return the unwrapped gifts is now Monday, Dec. 19, at 5 p.m.

“They’ve been nominated through local organizations, so they’re all local children” said Jamie Embick, director of Planning and Community Development for the city.

The children were nominated through Our Neighbor’s Farm and Pantry and Mt. Graham Safe House, and identities remain anonymous. The only information given to those picking an angel is gender, age, sizes and the child’s hobbies and toy preferences.

Tags can be obtained from trees at the Safford City Annex, 808 S. 8th Ave., and at Thriftee supermarket.

2022 marks the first year for the City of Safford to host an Angel Wish Tree, at the urging of Pam Frost, administrative events liaison for the city.
