Conference to help families of addicts

SAFFORD — The Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition, Recovery Angels and Awakening Recovery Center are coming together to offer a program targeting family members of those dealing with addiction.

Setting Boundaries with an Addict/Alcoholic will take place Friday, from 5-6:30 p.m., at the Graham County General Services Building.

“What happens is a lot of families, they start enabling the addict. We want to (help them) to establish boundaries for them, for the addict, to effectively love them without enabling them,” said Michael Bien with Awakening Recovery Center, who will be one of the featured speakers.

Also speaking will be Jason Baca, manager of the House of Hope Sober Living Facility, and Mike Japenga, director of counseling services at ARC.

There is no cost to attend and snacks will be served.
