PIMA — The first fund-raiser to help build a new Pima Fire Station has been announced.

Pima Fire Fest and Classic Car Show will take place Saturday, April 9, starting at 9 a.m., at Pima High School.

The event will be an all-ages affair, with vendors and bounce houses, plus children will be able to get an up-close look at the Pima Fire trucks. Fire fighters will also put on a demonstration of a rescue extraction from an automobile.

It’s $20 to register a classic car, $25 on the day of the event; and vendor costs are $50 per booth.

For more information or to register, call 928-322-2763.

The Pima Fire Department is proposing a tear-down of the current fire station, to be followed by construction of a new, larger station. In addition, Pima Library has proposed construction of a new library building, across the street from Pima schools.

The Town Council unanimously endorsed both proposals; however, no town funds have been committed to either project, so each entity must fund-raise to begin construction.
