THATCHER — At its Aug. 12 meeting, the Thatcher Town Council received good news about commercial development in the town.
The Culver’s restaurant is on schedule and will have its soft open by the end of the month. And the developers of the Native Wings restaurant adjoining JJ’s Carwash told the town they are in the process of hiring a new general contractor and will resume construction.
Building plans for the new Circle K have been approved, but the developers said they want to secure a general contractor before obtaining a building permit.
“And the Tesla charging station, that you’ve seen over there by Big 5, is going great,” said Planning and Zoning Administrator Alan Bryce. “It should be done in about two weeks.”

In July, the Town Council unanimously approved a variance to the town’s sign ordinance, for a new sign on the O’Reilly’s Auto Parts lot that will serve as signage for a new commercial development — Cotton Crossing.
Cotton Crossing is comprised of two areas of development in the vicinity of U.S. Highway 70 and Bauer Avenue. Development would take place on about 85 acres south of Highway 70, south of the Safeway Plaza, Horne Freedom Ford and the Food City Plaza; and about 95 acres north of Highway 70, north of the Comfort Inn and Safeway.
Master Developer of Cotton Crossing is DMMK FP LLC based in Thatcher. There is no timeline on when development will begin or what businesses are interested in the development.
