SAFFORD — The Graham County Chamber of Commerce announced the May 2023 Chamber Soirée will be hosted by Shawna Taylor, founder of Heart of Valor.

The event will take place at 1 S. Kevin Burns Lane SW, Safford, on Thursday, May 4, at 5 p.m.

The May Chamber Soirée will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to network and learn more about the Heart of Valor organization.

Heart of Valor is an equine services nonprofit organization that focuses on helping horses help humans. Many of the horses involved in the program are rescues, and through Heart of Valor, the horses are given the opportunity to help others heal and connect with themselves in a new and meaningful way.

Taylor described herself as a “foster kid” for several years during her childhood, and experienced abuse, neglect, and uncertainty. Through her experiences with horses, she said she found healing and comfort, and now, through Heart of Valor, she said she hopes to provide others with the same opportunity.

“Attending Chamber soirees is an amazing opportunity for local businesses owners and community leaders to gather together and touch base with each other,” said Vance Bryce, Chamber executive director. “At the Chamber, we work to get that communication going, and get that connection to be strong with our friends and neighbors. Shawna’s nonprofit, Heart of Valor is an amazing new organization and I’m excited to welcome her as a new Chamber member.”

Heart of Valor will also be hosting an event at Graham County Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 13, from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“They’re going to be having a second-chance yard sale to raise funds,” said Kay Ekval with the Chamber. “They are looking for donations.”
