SAFFORD — One-stop service for health care has come to the Gila Valley.

Canyonlands Healthcare will celebrate the grand opening of its new pharmacy inside its clinic Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting at noon.

The pharmacy will serve both patients of the clinic as well as outside customers.

“We’re able to have smaller wait times than other pharmacies; we’re able to get people in and out,” said Pharmacy Technician Allie Arrellin. “So after someone is seen by the doctor, they’re able to come and wait, possibly, five minutes and leave with their medication.”

Canyonlands is a federally-qualified health center, offering primary care, family planning, pediatric and dental services. It accepts health insurance and, for those without insurance, offers a sliding fee scale based on income, household size and other factors.

“Our main goal is to try and get people in and out. Sometimes people’s medication is even ready by the time they’re done seeing the doctor,” Arrellin said. “Mainly it’s real patient focused. We’re really able to work with your doctor closely. I can just go down the hallway, and go, ‘Hey Doc, can you clarify this ‘script for me?’ Or, ‘This isn’t covered by the patient’s insurance. Here are some different options.’ It’s real nice that we’re able to work in the clinic, with the doctors, and get your medications in and out real fast for you.”
