Burro fund-raiser to benefit Safe House changes dates due to Mi Casa Tortilla shuttering

SAFFORD — A GFWC Woman’s Club of Safford fund-raiser to help Mt. Graham Safe House is changing dates due to an imminent business closure.

Following the announcement that Mi Casa Tortilla Factory would be closing permanently effective Sept. 1, the Woman’s Club of Safford announced it would conduct its Mi Casa Tortilla Burro sale this Friday, from 10 a.m. to sold out.

Shredded beef burros are $8, green chili pork is $7.50, and bean and cheese is $6, with all proceeds to benefit Mt. Graham Safe House.

Safe House serves victims of physical and sexual assault, and is developing a second facility is Duncan, in addition to its main facility in Safford.

Burro orders may be called in to 928-428-7915 or 928-651-8822. Pick up is at Mi Casa Tortilla Factory, 621 7th Ave. in Safford.

On Saturday, Aug. 19, on its social media, the owners of Mi Casa cited the pandemic, minimum wage increases, and product and fuel price hikes as the reason they are closing the business they purchased 12 years before.
