GRAHAM COUNTY — A man out hunting with his son found himself being treated for a gunshot wound.
On Saturday, at about 2:09 p.m., Graham County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call of a shooting on State Route 266. They found a man lying on the ground, next to a vehicle, with another man applying pressure to the wound.
The victim explained he had been out hunting with his son and they were driving home, when a weapon was fired from the back seat, striking the victim in the buttocks. The victim managed to safely pull the car over to the side of the road and exit the vehicle.
The son explained he was in the backseat. He said he had his finger on the trigger because he thought the weapon was unloaded and safe.
The victim said he still had movement in all his extremities and was transported to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Deputies secured the weapon into evidence.
