SAFFORD – The death toll in Graham County from coronavirus continues to climb.
Graham County Health Department Tuesday reported the death of a San Carlos Apache Reservation resident between the ages of 45 and 54.
It’s the sixth death in the past five days and brings the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the county in December to 12.
Graham County Health Department also reported 53 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, with almost all the cases – 53– in the Safford area. Three of the cases are in Thatcher and one on the San Carlos Apache Reservation.
Graham County’s total since the start of the pandemic is up to 2,873, with 982 cases considered active and 47 deaths.
Graham County’s positivity rate is 25.4 percent.
Greenlee County
Greenlee County Health Department reported five new cases Monday evening.
That brings the total number of new cases in the county in December to 119, 32 percent of the county’s total number of cases since the start of the pandemic.
Greenlee County’s total is 365, with 134 cases considered active and three deaths.
Greenlee County’s positivity rate is 9 percent.
