PHOENIX — The Arizona State Board of Education released the 2021-22 letter grades for schools across the state, and four high schools in Graham and Greenlee counties received A grades.
Scoring A grades were both high schools in the Safford Unified School District — Safford and Mt. Graham high schools — as well as Pima and Morenci high schools.
Thatcher and Duncan high schools earned a B grade each. In the Fort Thomas Unified School District, Fort Thomas High School earned a C grade while Mt. Turnbull Academy was graded F.
The schools were graded on student proficiency, student growth, graduation rates, and students who are college or career ready.
Of the two counties’ K-8 schools, only Metcalf Elementary in Morenci scored an A grade.
Receiving B grades were: Dorothy Stinson, Lafe Nelson and Ruth Powell schools in Safford; Thatcher Elementary and Thatcher Middle schools; Fort Thomas Elementary; Solomon Elementary; Bonita Elementary; Triumphant Learning Center; Discovery Plus Academy; and Fairbanks Middle School.
Receiving C grades were: Safford Middle School, Duncan Elementary and Mt. Turnbull Elementary School in Bylas.
Receiving an F grade was Pima Elementary. There was no grade listed for Pima Junior High School.
