SAN CARLOS — There will be two races on the San Carlos Apache Tribal Council primary ballot.
Five people have filed to run for Tribal chairman, and five filed to represent Gilson Wash.
The Tribal Council Primary Election will take place Oct. 6, with early voting taking place Sept. 14-18.
Running for Tribal Chairman are incumbent Terry Rambler and challengers John Antonio Jr., Yvette Cassadore, Christopher Key and Ina Sue Salter.
Running in Gilson Wash are Simon Hooke, Josiah May, Gregory Patton, Michael Phillips and Joseph Thompson.
Under tribal rules, when more than four file for a position that race goes to a primary. All races with four or fewer candidates are decided in the Nov. 3 General Election.
Three are running to represent Byals: Ned Anderson Jr., Sharon Lang and Elliot Talgo Sr.; while there are four running to represent Peridot: Sally Jean Hooke, Valerie Opal Kay, Dee Randall and Edith Renee Starr.
