Local United Way funds almost $43,000 in May

SAFFORD — Eleven programs, projects and events received support from the United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties in May

According to data released Friday the funding totaled $42,588.67.

Funded were:

Education

  • $5,000 — Graham County Health Department for the Teen Outreach program
  • $5,000 — Fairbanks Middle School for the CATS Code program
  • $5,000 — Mt. Graham High School for the Reading program and Lending Library
  • $1,765.70 — Pima Elementary School for its History Corner

Health

  • $5,000 — Mt. Turnbull Elementary School for outdoor sensory equipment
  • $4,997.97 — Greenlee County Girls Youth Fast Pitch Softball League for the program and safety equipment upgrades
  • $4,938 — Graham County Search and Rescue for a satellite communication system
  • $3,887 — Fort Thomas Middle School for implementation of the Presidential Physical Fitness program
  • $3,000 — St. Vincent de Paul for the Shared Kindred project

Sponsorships

  • $2,000 — Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition for the Back to School Resource Fair
  • $2,000 — Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition for the fourth annual Family Fun Night

The United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties makes grants to nonprofit, educational and governmental organizations thanks to donations from Freeport-McMoRan Foundation and Freeport employees; employees of the City of Safford, Town of Thatcher and Graham County; and individual donors.
