Corral fire in Greenlee at 90-percent containment

GREENLEE COUNTY — The first wildfire of the season in Southeastern Arizona sparked in northern Greenlee County over the weekend.

The Corral fire, about 14 miles south of Alpine, ignited Saturday from a lightning strike. It reached a peak size of 3 acres.

Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest reported multiple teams attacked the fire, including the Mesa Hot Shots.

Helicopter bucket crews were assisted by intermittent rain and containment was reported at 90 percent as of Monday afternoon.
