PHOENIX — Two members of the Safford Unified School District were recently recognized for their efforts serving children and families in the Gila Valley.
The Arizona School Boards Association presented Renee Davis with the ASAP Award. The ASAP Award recognizes district secretaries who “demonstrate outstanding leadership, professionalism, and dedication in their role, making a significant impact on their school district and the broader education community.”
Mike De La O was presented the Barbara Robey School Board Member of the Year Award. The Robey Award goes to a board member who “demonstrates outstanding service and contributions to their district and community.”
De La O serves as president of the governing board, a position he has held 24 of the 25 years he has been a board member.
