GRAHAM COUNTY — There were just two permits issued for new home construction in March, and both homes will be located in Thatcher.
The Town of Thatcher reports the two new homes have a combined value of $632,000.
Thatcher also issued one permit for construction of a commercial building in March, for the new American Southwest Credit Union branch to be located in the Thatcher Business Park (the former Red Lamp RV Park) on U.S. Highway 70. Value of the American Southwest Credit Union branch building is $1.9 million.
While Pima didn’t issue any permits for new home construction, it did issue two permits for commercial construction. Project names were not listed.
Safford didn’t issue any residential building permits but did issue one commercial permit in March. Project name and value was not included in the report.
Since July 1, 2024, the start of the fiscal year, Pima has issued one permit for residential home construction and three for commercial projects, Safford has issued two permits for residential home construction and six commercial permits, and Thatcher has issued 27 residential home construction permits and three for commercial projects.
Thatcher’s commercial projects — the new hotel next to Springhill Suites, the O-Reilly Auto Parts building next to Sonic, and American Southwest Credit Union — have a combined value of $14.6 million.
