Juliana “Juli” Aline Weatherhead, a resident of Safford, passed into eternal rest Saturday evening, October 5, 2024, at her home with her beloved husband, Mike, at her side.
Juli was born in Norwich, Connecticut, on August 10, 1960, to William Bernard Phillips and Shirley Ann Marie Gemino Phillips. She was the oldest of three girls.
Juli was a natural go-getter, graduating high school at 16, and attending nursing school. She put her career on hold to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Arequipa, Peru. She had the opportunity to learn the Spanish language, which served her for the rest of her life throughout her career, and within her community. She often spoke of her time in Peru and loved all the people she was able to meet. Over the years, she faithfully served in various church callings and attended the Gila Valley Temple regularly.
In 1986, Juli was swept off her feet by a tall and handsome young man, Mike Weatherhead. They met at a singles’ conference in Flagstaff, Arizona. Mike felt compelled to interrupt her conversation with another suitor, and the rest was history. The two married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on June 2, 1988.
Her greatest joy in life was being a mother. Juli and Mike welcomed their first child, Lisa Aline on September 15, 1990, in Prescott, Arizona. They resided in Bagdad, Arizona until they moved in 1993 to the Gila Valley, Arizona. They settled in quickly and welcomed their second child, Michelle Louise, a few years later on January 14, 1995.
Two of Juli’s passions were helping people in her nursing career, and crafting. Many people knew her for her outgoing and caring nature. She was a friend to all she came in contact with, was quick to help anyone in need, and enjoyed sharing her love of crafting with all around her.
In recent years, Juli’s four grandkids became her whole world. She always had gifts, homemade treats, and hand-written cards. She expressed her love through the gifts she made that her grandchildren always appreciated and hold dear.
We find solace and comfort in knowing that Juli’s final days were spent doing what she loved: FaceTiming and visiting grandkids, and having dinner with friends. She left an impression on her loved-ones that won’t soon be forgotten.
