Woman sustains serious injuries after jumping from moving vehicle

A frantic man called 911 Sunday night at approximately midnight saying that he and his girlfriend had been arguing and she jumped out of his moving vehicle on Airport Road. When officers arrived, they found the woman seated in the passenger seat of the vehicle, covered in blood with significant facial swelling. The boyfriend told authorities that they had been in an argument over threats she had made about harming herself. The woman reportedly threatened to kill herself and jumped from the vehicle while traveling at approximately 55 MPH. Her boyfriend stopped, got her back into the vehicle, then called 911.

The woman initially said that she was walking and had tripped. She later changed her story and admitted that she had jumped from the vehicle, but she didn’t think it was going very fast. She denied any physical altercation between her and her boyfriend.

The woman was transported to Mount Graham Regional Medical Center where she was in critical condition. She sustained a facial fracture and a serious head injury.  She was intubated and flown out to a hospital in Tucson.
