GRAHAM COUNTY — An 18-year-old woman is facing DUI charges after rolling her vehicle.
Graham County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Airport Road, near Aviation Way, a little after 3:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22.
The driver was traveling eastbound on Airport road when she apparently failed to negotiate a curve while traveling 55 miles an hour, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and roll once. Deputies said tire patterns indicate there was no attempt to brake.
Deputies said they detected a strong odor of alcohol from the driver, and received consent to search her vehicle, turning up multiple bongs and other marijuana paraphernalia. The driver reportedly did not have a medical marijuana card.
After being evaluated by EMS personnel, the driver reportedly consented to a field sobriety test, and deputies reported she failed three of the four tests performed. She also reportedly admitted to drinking three prepackaged alcoholic beverages between 10:30-11 p.m.
The driver was cited for underage driving under the influence and failure to control her vehicle. She was released to her family.
