Busy Halloween weekend in the Gila Valley

GRAHAM COUNTY — While most of the Halloween activity in the Gila Valley will take place on Saturday this year, and there will be plenty for people to do all weekend long.

Holiday fun starts Thursday, from 10-11:30 a.m., when Safford City-Graham County Library hosts a Halloween storytime for children 0-5 and their parents or guardians. There will be a carnival and games, as well as a costume parade through the library.

Also on Thursday, the Pima Elementary PTO Halloween Carnival, 5-8 p.m., on the high school football field. Bracelets are $5 each and gives access to all games and activities except food.

On Friday and Saturday, from 7-9 p.m. each night, Eastern Arizona Museum and Historical Society in Pima will host the final two nights of the Fright at the Museum haunted house. Cost is $5 per person and all proceeds benefit the museum.

Eastern Arizona College will host its annual haunted House at its Discovery Park Campus, Friday and Saturday, from 6 p.m. to midnight each night. Cost is $5 per person.

Saturday, EAC will conduct a Halloween Parade. Starting at 10 a.m., the parade will start at Mark Allen Hall and travel south down Stadium Avenue to John Mickelson Field.

Multi-Vendor Events is offering the Nightmare B4 Christmas event Saturday, starting at 3 p.m., at the Venue on Main Street in Safford. The adult and children’s costume contests start at 8:30 p.m.

More Halloween activity takes place at Eastern Arizona College, with a holiday carnival in the Activities Center, at 7 p.m. The event will feature a red carpet/runway. Dancing, games and costume contest.

Area high schoolers can participate in Haunted Halloween. The event features music and food and will take place Saturday, from 8-11:30 p.m., on Palmer Farms Road in Pima. Cost is $15 per person, or $10 if in costume.

For adults, there will be an Alien Invasion at Shane’s Place in Safford, starting at 9 p.m. The costume contest, with $200 in prizes, will take place at midnight.

Starting at 8 p.m., Stadium Club will start its Halloween Party, with pumpkin and costume contests, and prizes awarded at midnight.

And the Beetlejuice Bash will take place at Sarah’s Bullpen at 9 p.m. There will be give-aways, games and discounts for those in Beetlejuice costumes.
