4th of July Parade entries sought

SAFFORD — The City of Safford is accepting entries for the Fourth of July Parade.

The theme for this year’s parade is “Let Freedom Ring,” and entries are due no later than 5 p.m. June 29. Find the entry form at 4th-of-July-Parade-Entry-Form (cityofsafford.us)

The Town of Thatcher has also released its schedule of activities for the Independence Day holiday.

The Fire Department will travel the town with sirens on at 6:30 a.m., followed by the parade at 7 a.m. The parade will start at Thatcher High School and make its way to the splash pad and Herb Winsor Park.

Ceremonies will start with a welcome by Mayor Randy Bryce, the raising of the flag and singing of the national anthem.

That will be followed by a free pancake breakfast, a candy parachute drop, Fire Department splash and play, and jumping castles.

The Town of Pima and Eastern Arizona Museum and Historical Society announced Thursday the traditional Fourth of July breakfast will once again take place.

Things start at 7 a.m. with a flag raising, followed immediately by a breakfast of pancakes, eggs and bacon, all served at the Pima Fire Station.

Cost is $4 per person, while veterans and active-duty military eat free.
