4 new coronavirus deaths — 2 in Graham, 2 in Greenlee

SAFFORD — It’s been a rough week in both Graham and Greenlee counties when it comes to coronavirus, with four new deaths across the two counties.

Graham County Health Department reported one death Tuesday, a Safford resident between the ages of 55 and 64; and one death Wednesday, a Safford resident under the age of 20.

Those are the fourth and fifth deaths in February, and bring the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Graham County since the start of the pandemic to 70.

The Health Department also reported 14 new cases, with 10 on Tuesday and four Wednesday. Ten of the new cases are in the 85546 Zip Code and four in 85552.

That brings February’s total of new cases thus far to 104, a 90 percent drop in the number of new cases from January at the same time.

Greenlee County

On Monday Greenlee County Health Department reported two new COVID-19 related deaths. One victim was a Morenci resident between the ages of 60 and 69, and the other a Duncan resident over the age of 80.

That brings the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Greenlee County since the start of the pandemic to eight, four in Duncan, three in Clifton and one in Morenci.

The Health Department also reported three new cases, bringing the total number of new cases in February thus far to 24, and 550 since the start of the pandemic.
