THATCHER — The name has changed but the prize remains the same.

On its social media Friday, the Small Business Development Center at Eastern Arizona College announced the Youth Entrepreneur Excellence Training program, or YEET, is now called YES for Youth Entrepreneur Seminar.

YES will take place June 30 to July 3, from 9 a.m. to noon each day, and is for Graham and Greenlee high schoolers to learn about basic business practices. At the end of the week, participants create a 60- to 90-second video pitch of a business idea to adult experts.

“Entrepreneurship isn’t just about making money; it’s about pursuing your passions and making a difference in the world. This bootcamp will help you identify your interests and talents and guide you towards turning them into a viable business venture,” the SBDC states in the program’s description.

The judges’ selection of the best pitch will receive $1,000.

This is the second year the SBDC is putting on the program. Last year’s winning idea was a cat litter box that cleaned itself.

There is no cost to participate. Click here to register.
